At Birkdale Medical our consulting doctors consider vaccinations to be essential for preventing illness in children and adults.
Routine children's vaccinations are performed by experienced Registered Nurses using free vaccines provided by Queensland Health. A record of children's vaccinations is uploaded to the government vaccine register which is freely accessible to parents.
The doctors encourage annual influenza vaccinations. Influenza vaccinations are currently free of charge for Qld residents.
Birkdale Medical also stocks a large range of travel vaccinations in a dedicated vaccine refrigerator. Please consult your doctor about your vaccine requirements at least four weeks prior to travel.

The Department of Health recommends that all adults aged ≥ 75 years should receive a COVID booster vaccine dose every 6 months.

Adults aged 65 to 74 years are recommended to receive a COVID booster dose every 12 months.

Persons aged 18 to 64 years with severe immunocompromise are recommended to receive a COVID booster dose every 12 months.

Primary COVID vaccination (those persons who have never had a Covid vaccination or a proven COVID infection)

A single Covid vaccination is recommended for persons 18 years and older.

For persons with severe immunocompromise 2 primary doses are recommended
