Michael Pitt MBBS(Qld)
Dr Michael Pitt established Birkdale Medical in 1984 in a semirural Birkdale very different from today.He has interests in children’s health, men’s health, musculoskeletal and skin conditions and motor racing medicine.He is also actively involved in teaching and guiding young doctors who are in the process of becoming family medicine specialists.He is a keen sailor and competes in Laser Masters sailing events.
Peter Adkins MBBS(Qld) FRACGP
Dr Peter Adkins joined Birkdale Medical in 1988. After graduating in 1976 he gained his FRACGP in 1986. He previously worked as Medical Educator with the RACGP vocational training program and continues his interest in that area through supervision and teaching of students and doctors training in general practice. He also works one day a week in the role of Clinical Advisor with the Brisbane South Primary Health Network, a Commonwealth funded initiative to improve health care outcomes in the community. Dr Adkins enjoys all aspects of general practice.
Barbara Jones Dr Med FRACGP
Dr Barbara Jones commenced practising at Birkdale Medical in 1999. She specialises in women’s health, depression and anxiety and travel medicine.
Emily McGhie MBBS(Qld) FRACGP
Dr Emily McGhie graduated in 2004 from the University of QLD and completed her RACGP fellowship in 2010. She has interests in yachting and has travelled extensively through Europe and SE Asia (having worked for 12 months as a deckhand after completing her hospital training) and has an interest in travel medicine as a result of this. She has 2 young children and has an interest in children’s and women’s health as well as general medicine.
Kara Griffiths MBBS(Qld) FRACGP
Dr Kara Griffiths graduated in 2007 from the University of QLD and completed her RACGP fellowship in 2011. She also completed a Diploma of Child Health in 2011. Kara has young children of her own. She enjoys travelling and has visited Africa and Asia and spent a medical elective in South America, Ecquador. Kara has a special interest in women and children’s health and general medicine.
Kerry Hulett MBBS FRACGP
Dr Kerry Hulett grew up in the local area and returned to live here with her own family after completing her university degrees. She is a mother to three young children. Kerry enjoys all aspects of general practice but has a particular interest in women’s and children’s health and parenting. She also enjoys managing mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
Sally Crane MBBS FRACGP
Dr Sally Crane graduated from the University of Queensland in 2006 and was awarded her RACGP fellowship in 2014. She is a mum of two young, busy children. Sally enjoys all areas of General Practice but has special interests in women’s and children’s health, in particular antenatal care, infants and allergic disorders in children.
Estera Bratko MBBS FRACGP
Dr Estera Bratko graduated in 2008 from Griffith University and has completed her RACGP fellowship and Diploma of Child Health. She has also completed courses in Expedition Medicine. Estera enjoys adventure and is an avid inline skater and scuba diver. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has particular interest in procedural medicine, expedition and travel medicine, men’s and women’s health, paediatrics and geriatrics and antenatal care.
Russell Stevens MBBS FRACGP
Dr Russell Stevens graduated from the University of Queensland in 2000. He spent several years at the Princess Alexandra Hospital rotating through all of the Medical Specialties. In more recent years Russell has worked in the Coronary Care Unit at the Greenslopes Hospital where he continues to work one day each week. Areas of medical interest include Cardiac and Respiratory Medicine, and Musculoskeletal issues. Interests beyond medicine include photography, music, and cinema.
Claire Connole MBBS FRACGP
Dr Claire Connole graduated in 2011 from Griffith University and has recently completed her RACGP Fellowship. Prior to studying medicine, Claire worked as an Occupational Therapist. She has also completed her Diploma of Child Health and has spent time working at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. Claire is currently on maternity leave.
Erin Harrison MBBS
Dr Erin Harrison resides locally and enjoys spending time with her young family, being outdoors and travelling. Erin is passionate about all aspects of General Practice and her special interests include paediatrics, antenatal care and chronic disease management. Since graduating medicine in 2014, Erin completed the majority of her hospital training at Redland Hospital and is pleased to continue working with the local community at Birkdale Medical. Prior to studying medicine, Erin worked as a scientist and completed her PhD in 2008.
